SUMMER RESIDENCE
Little Compton, RI
The client came to the architect with a book on historic Little Compton, Rhode Island, and a genuine challenge to rebuild his recently purchased vacation home. The residence consisted of three non-descript prefab buildings. The contrasting site had a spectacular, commanding view over a salt marsh to the Atlantic Ocean. The resulting plans outlined three new structures that would reuse the existing foundation, frame and heating system. The addition of a barn gave the owners more space and continued the rhythm of the three structures. A lacy Early American railing adorns a widow's walk connecting the three pods.
New Construction. Completed in 2000.
